Welcome, lovely parent or caregiver!

Hello! I’m Karaa neurodivergent, trauma-informed sleep specialist, parent, and fierce advocate for gentle, individualised sleep support.

My path to becoming a family sleep specialist has been shaped by my own journey as both a parent and a lifelong learner in child development and wellbeing. With a degree in psychology and over 25 years of experience working with children, I thought I understood all there was to know about parenting and sleep – but I couldn’t have been more wrong!

My first child reinforced this false sense of security. Sensitive and an exceptional sleeper, he was my ‘unicorn baby’, fitting neatly into routines and thriving on sleep. Then came my second, my wonderful ‘velcro’ baby, who needed constant closeness and defied all the sleep advice I thought I knew. That’s where my journey took a deeper turn. As I was flooded with conventional sleep training advice, I felt the guidance conflicted with my values, instincts, and commitment to respecting the needs of children. Through those struggles, I began exploring alternative, holistic approaches to sleep and attachment.

As a parent, I know firsthand how sleep can be an uphill battle, especially for highly sensitive, anxious, or neurodivergent people. I face my own challenges, working to manage anxiety, rumination, insomnia, and a dysregulated nervous system. Sleep, for me, isn’t simply a habit but a practice requiring consistent support and care. This experience has only deepened my empathy for families in similar situations.

Driven to find respectful, evidence-based ways to support families, I pursued certification as a family sleep and wellbeing practitioner, trained by neuroscientist and doula Dr. Greer Kirshenbaum. Since then, I’ve developed a strong foundation in child development, attachment theory, and holistic sleep practices, grounding my approach in empathy and understanding.

Now, I work with families like yours, helping you find gentle, tailored sleep solutions that honour the uniqueness of your child, your values, and the parent-child bond. My ‘superpower’ is uncovering the underlying causes that may be disrupting your child’s biologically normal sleep patterns – and developing supportive solutions that align with your family’s needs.

If you’re ready to explore a gentle, nurturing path to better sleep, I would love to support you. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at nurturedinfancy@gmail.com.

Kara Wilson - Holistic Infant Sleep Consultant

We don’t believe in Cry It out. I love how Kara’s approach was gentle and Blue never cried and was never left in her bed upset. She supported our parenting style. We also feel more rested and find we have more energy and are happier. We even found it helped our other two children’s sleep. I didn’t think it would work so quickly! We stuck to the routine but we also didn’t change our social life to suit. We still lay next to Blue to put her to sleep, but that’s our choice and what we enjoy doing as a family.

We couldn’t thank Kara enough for her help and support.
